Saratoga Residence

Garden / Residential

Project Scope

We were delighted when the client asked us to design the garden for their newly purchased period house in Saratoga Springs, New York. It represented an exciting opportunity for us to design another garden for them, and to work with the same team as their main residence, which was a very successful partnership. For SMI, this town is an intriguing place in which to work. It is rich in architectural styles from those of the mid-nineteenth century to just after the turn of the twentieth century. The guest’s house is classified as circa 1890 Queen Ann and Shingle architecture, since it carries elements of both style. It  is an architectural gem, but was in need of much renewal and restoration, and the client hoped to bring it back to former glory. They has the same desire for the garden, and we were ecstatic to take up the challenge.
