Bradley Park

Garden / Urban

Project Scope

For decades, this four-acre parcel that was labeled a park sat devoid of activity and relatively neglected, except for the mowing of the grass.  In 2015, two separate civic organizations began to realize the park was an untapped resource waiting to be utilized.  Working with both organizations, we developed an exciting plan that reactivated the park and also dealt with ongoing damage caused by sea-level rise and king tides. The tidal garden is a beautiful and functional garden when dry that has become a very popular destination.  When the area floods due to a high tide, the design of the garden allows areas of the new garden to flood, while leaving native stepping stone walkways and seaside paspalum island accessible above the flood waters.  In both scenarios, the garden is interactive and an attractive destination within the park.
